Checklist - How to Choose Bathroom Vanities

Need help choosing a vanity? You are in luck! With help from one of  our esteemed brands, Robern, we compiled a checklist for you!

The focal point of your bathroom is the vanity.  It serves multiple functions, dominates the visual scene, and is frequently used for everyday bathroom tasks.  If you plan to build a new bathroom or renovate an old one, then it’s imperative that you choose the best vanity for your bathroom.
Bathroom Vanity Checklist
During your home renovation project you are faced with many choices. Choosing a vanity, like any furniture piece,  involves significant effort and should not be taken lightly.  There are physical limitations and functional requirements to consider, as well as common demands for aesthetics and accessibility.  So if you’re going to insert a vanity into your bathroom, you’ll want one that meets your needs and provides for an ideal bathroom experience.
Measurements
Size & Space – Bathrooms vary from tight urban spaces of a Manhattan loft  to airy suburban master baths of a California mansion.  This may seem obvious, but measuring the size and space and knowing the dimensions of other bathroom amenities, like the shower and location of the toilet, will give you a solid understanding of available space for your vanity.  You can use a small, compact vanity which are  specifically designed with small bathroom spaces in mind.  In larger bathrooms, you may want to opt for a larger 72" double vanity!
Storage –  Is your vanity going to be the prime storage space in your bathroom? If yes, you may want to consider a deep vanity or one with many closed drawers or doors to store all of your personal affects. If you have a linen closet or medicine cabinet in your space you may want to go for a more decorative console vanity or maybe even pedestal!
Functionality

Accessibility – A vanity is only as good as its functionality.  It needs to offer a useful surface, ample space, and easy accessibility to the products within it.  Most modern-day vanities include touch to open drawers and many include open shelves to either display decorative items or store the items you use on a daily basis.
Organization – Just as vanities need to allow for easy accessibility, they also need to create an environment that is clutter-free.  There should be a place for everything and everything in its place.  Many of the higher end vanities include drawer inserts or dividers.
Secondary Bathroom  – Many bathrooms are used as powder rooms or guest bathrooms and don’t require large vanities or other amenities.  These secondary bathrooms should take on a minimalist look to create an experience that is inviting yet simplistic.  A powder room is the first, and typically only, bathroom your guests will see and use, so make sure it makes a statement. This room often does not need so much storage so here is the change to splurge and go for that Italian console you always wanted!
Style
Design Styles – Since a vanity is the focal point of your bathroom, it is often the first object people see when they arrive.  It must proudly preach your personal style and act as a starting point for your other amenities. Focal Point Plumbing & Hardware represents many different vanity brands and we pride ourselves in not selling anything we would not put into our own homes. Between the brands we carry and the many options within these lines, we are sure you will be able to find something the fits your style.

Uniqueness – Your vanity should be as unique as the rest of your bathroom and home.  Rather than pick a color, choose a design that inspires and excites.  You can choose a vanity made of wood or glass, wall hung or floor mounted and then you can choose a vanity top to further customize your unique purchase!
By walking through the bathroom vanity checklist, you’ll have a better understanding of what vanity will work best in your bathroom. We have wonderful bathroom vanity options that check all the boxes and bring unique style to your home.
